Abbey makes dad's day

8/09/2008 8:43:00 AM
Abbey Cunial has turned her dad’s life upside down.

Aside from the sleep deprivation and endless cycles of the washing machine, Michael Cunial has found himself completely overwhelmed by love and joy since his daughter was born five months ago.

He spent his first Father’s Day the way he would like to spend every day - with Abbey and his wife Kim.

“I look forward to seeing her every minute of the day. I haven’t done much work in the last five months. She’s the best waste of time,” Michael said.

Kim treated Michael to brunch at the Mountain Tea House and helped Abbey organise a book and a homemade card to give to her dad.

Michael said it was important to him to be involved in all aspects of looking after his daughter.

“I’m good at putting her to sleep at night, and I like giving her a bath and just spending time with her. I had a rough idea that life would be different, but you really don’t know how much things will change,” he said.

Abbey was so excited about her first Father’s Day with her dad that she woke up at 4am.
